Jets forward Shand gets call back to the NAHL
October 10, 2014
Fresh off the heels of Point Mallard defenseman Matt Goodman getting the call to the NAHL to play for the Springfield Jr. Blues comes another NA3HL player getting the call to the NAHL.
Metro Jets forward Kevin Shand, 19, has been called up to play for the Springfield Jr. Blues. Shand (6’2/215) started the 2014-15 season with the Jets, scoring seven points (5 goals, 2 assists) in his first four games of the season.
This will be Shand’s second stint in the NAHL with the Jr. Blues. The native of Saline, Michigan, played the majority of the season last year with the Jr. Blues, including the start of the season at the NAHL Showcase. He also appeared in nine games with the Jets in the NA3HL. Shand also played in the USHL for the Cedar Rapids Roughriders, where he finished the season, playing in 14 games and totaling six points.
While with Springfield last season, Shand had 18 points in 21 games played and was a +15. He had eight goals and 10 assists and three of his eight goals were of the game-winning variety.
Shand has played in 13 career NA3HL games with the Jets and registered 24 points in those games.
Springfield hosts Keystone for a three-game home set this weekend.
