Miners to pay tribute to fallen soldier during game

Please join the NA3EHL’s Wilkes-Barre Miners on Saturday, January 24th at 5:00 pm for our Camo Jersey Military Game in honor of Staff Sergeant Andrew Stevens who tragically lost his life on January 2nd.
The team will take on Roc City and will be wearing special tribute jerseys, which will be available for auction.
Funds raised during the game will benefit Staff Sergeant Stevens' wife Katy and their 2 young sons. Sergeant Stevens served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and his accomplishments as a US Marine are significant.
Stevens was a bulk fuel specialist with Bulk Fuel Company, 8th Engineer Support Battalion. Stevens enlisted in the Marine Corps in July 2005 and was promoted to his current rank of staff sergeant on Aug. 1, 2014.
His medals and decorations include Good Conduct Medal, a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, an Afghanistan Campaign Medal, a Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, a Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon, a Korean Service Defense Medal, an Iraqi Campaign Medal, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, a National Defense Medal, a Presidential Unit Commendation and a Navy Unit Commendation, according to information from the Marine Corps.
Stevens leaves behind a wife, Katy, and two sons, ages five and two.
