Great Falls forward Wylie signs an NAHL tender
March 24, 2015
The Great Falls Americans, proud members of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are pleased to announce that forward Wade Wylie has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Odessa Jackalopes. The Jackalopes currently compete in the NAHL’s South Division.
Wylie, 18, just completed his first season of playing in the NA3HL and second season over all of junior hockey. The native of Lake Stevens, Washington, had a breakout season this year for the Americans, recording 30 points (14 goals, 16 assists) in 37 regular season games.
Wylie also appeared in five games during the NA3HL playoffs, where Great Falls made it all the way to the NA3HL Silver Cup Tournament as the Frontier Division Champions. Wylie also was selected for and played in the 2015 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament for the NA3HL 18U Selects Team.
Wylie (5’11/175) played some of his best hockey at the start of the season when he was one of the NA3HL scoring leader with 12 points in his first seven games of the season. His 30 points this year ranked him tied for 6th in team scoring.
Prior to this season, Wylie played a year of junior hockey last season for the Valencia Flyers.
“Wade has come a long way under our guidance this season. He has a ton of natural ability but has really worked hard to develop into a complete player over the course of the year. We wish him all the luck in the world as he takes the next steps in his hockey career,” said Great Falls head coach Jeff Heimel.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held in June 9, 2015.
