NA3HL announces Easton Hockey Divisional Stars of the Week

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Easton Hockey for the week ending September 6, 2015. The divisional stars of the week is an award given each week of the regular season to the top performing players in each of the six divisions of the NA3HL as nominated by their head coaches.

 

 

The Pittsburgh Vengeance had a big 2015-16 debut over the weekend as they picked up two home wins over the visiting Cincinnati Thunder from the Midwest Division to grab early control of the East Division. Leading the way for the Vengeance was 18-year-old forward Ryker Barber. The native of Allendale, Michigan, had a big debut for the Vengeance, scoring a natural hat-trick in a 6-2 win on Saturday, which also included the game-winning goal. Barber (6’2/205) was also a +3 in the contest. Last season, Barber played in the NA3HL for the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks, where he had 18 points in 46 games played. “Ryker was a huge acquisition for us in the off-season from Cleveland/Wooster because it gave us a proven goal scorer in this league. I believe that if he continues to develop his all around game that he has a chance to advance to the next level,” said Vengeance head coach Dave Dorsey.

 

 

 

Despite being swept at Pittsburgh against the Vengeance over the weekend, the Cincinnati Thunder, led by forward Marc Anderson, were still competitive in the two games. Anderson, a 20-year-old forward from Canton, Michigan, scored two of Cincinnati’s three goals during the weekend, which included goals in both games. On Saturday, Anderson (5’8/170) scored the Thunder’s second goal in a 6-2 loss and on Sunday, he scored the lone goal in a 3-1 loss. Last season, Anderson had six points in 13 games with Cincinnati in the NA3HL."Marc is a player we're very proud of.  Last October he suffered a devastating injury that put him out for the season after knee surgery,” said Cincinnati head coach Ryan Colville. “He worked hard all summer and battled his way back and he showed why he's going to be an important offensive player for us this season."
