The Gillette Wild, proud members of the NA3HL, are pleased to announce that veteran forward Mitchell McEwan has committed to play college hockey at the University of Northern Colorado. The Northern Colorado Bears are an American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division II team.
McEwan, 20, just completed his second and final season playing in the NA3HL for the Wild. During the 2015-16 season, McEwan (5’11/185) played in 20 regular season games and recorded 18 points.
"On behalf of the Gillette Wild organization we like to congratulate Mitch for committing to the University of Northern Colorado. Mitch has a ton of talent and is a great kid. We would like to also thank Mitch for his work in the community and helping grow the sport of hockey in the city of Gillette," said Wild head coach Brendon Hodge.
During the 2014-15 season, the native of Westminster, Colorado, led the Wild in scoring with 43 points in 46 games played. During that season, he was also named to the 2014-15 NA3HL All-Frontier Division team.
In 66 career NA3HL games, McEwan recorded 61 points.
The Bears finished the 2015-16 season ranked 6th in the ACHA Division II West Region this past season and lost in the Regional Tournament. They finished with an overall record of 16-13-2.
“Mitchell is a consistent point-a-game player,” said UNC Bears Head Coach Kelly Newton. “He’ll
provide us with some much needed offense next season.”
