Denver gets commitment from Jets' Jacobson
The Janesville Jets have announced the forward Larkin Jacobson has committed to the University of Denver (WCHA) for next season.
Jacobson, a 19-year-old from Sioux City, Iowa, has seven goals for 14 points through 19 games this year.
“I’m very excited to play at DU, which has a strong hockey tradition and is a great academic school in a wonderful city,” said Jacobson.
“I’d like to thank my family for their tremendous support of my hockey dream, as well as (Jets head) Coach (Dane) Litke for his hard work on the ice and behind the scenes with the scouts.”
Litke says Jacobson, who will participate in next month’s NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, is deserving of the opportunity.
“Larkin has been a big part of our success this season and now he’s been rewarded with a chance to play with a premier program in the WCHA,” said the coach. “He worked hard over the offseason and that’s showing in his play this year.”
Jacobson totaled 27 points (11 goals) in 56 regular-season games a year ago.
“This is huge step for the Jets organization,” Litke added. “Not only is this our first Division I commitment of the year, but the first WCHA commitment in the history of the organization.
“It’ll be great to see Larkin wear a Pioneer uniform, and we’re very proud of him and his accomplishment.”
