September 7, 2019

Peoria forward Ian McHenry had two goals in a 7-1 win on Friday night.
Peoria 7 @ Milwaukee 1 - The Peoria Mustangs handedly beat the Milwaukee Power in a 1-7 win on the road in both team's season opening. After a quick first goal on the power play by the Power’s Ryan Payne, the Mustangs kicked open their gate and could not be contained. Several players contributed to the Mustangs’ win by finding twine Friday night. Ian McHenry and George Giese both tallied multipoint games. McHenry found the back of the net twice, while Giese was able to net himself one and contribute two assists on the night as well. Austin Keil, Jaycob Bland, Jared Wisely, and Connor Bennett were able to pop one past Milwaukee goalie, Ty Barnhill, as well. Barnhill was peppered with 65 shots by Peoria, and managed to turn away 58, while Cole Walter led the Mustangs to victory with his 23 save performance on 24 shots.
Long Beach 3 @ Elmira 7 – What looked like may be a back and forth game, gave way to a rampant offensive performance. The Jr. Soaring Eagles pulled away from an early 1-1 tie to eventually defeat the Sharks 7-3 on Friday night. Zac Bell was a main key to Elmira’s success by scoring four crucial goals in the game, while Ethan Fuller netted two goals, and Bryce Kolpien also found the back of the net once. Long Beach players Nathan Hartline, Pavel Filin, and Zachary Ostowski all contributed goals in Friday night’s uphill battle against the Jr. Soaring Eagles. However, it was not enough to get the win in this high scoring game.
