January 3, 2020

The New Ulm Steel of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that forward Nick Wieben has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Chippewa Steel of the NAHL’s Midwest Division.
Wieben, 19, is in his second full season of playing junior hockey. The 5’9/165 lbs. native of New Ulm, Minnesota, made his junior debut during the 2017-18 season with the Steel, where he recorded 17 points in 42 games played during his first junior season.
This season, Wieben began the season in the NAHL with the Brahmas and then joined the Steel in December, where he has recorded 11 points (7 goals, 4 assists) in six games played to date with the club.
Wieben, who is also an NAPHL alum, played the 2018-19 season with the Sioux Falls Power 18U team, where he recorded 11 points in 12 games played. He also played in the NAPHL during the 2016-17 season for the Omaha AAA 16U team.
Overall in 49 career NA3HL games, Wieben has recorded 29 points. In 33 career NAPHL games, he has 28 points.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 2, 2020.
