Friday Finals: Irish stay hot with 4th straight win
Cole Fenske helped the West Bend Power stay hot with their 4th straight win in a 4-1 win on Friday night.
Butte 6 @ Bozeman 3 – The Irish won their 4th straight game as Patrick Crooks had two goals and an assist in a 6-3 road win in Bozeman. The game was tied 3-3 late in the 3rd period as Crooks, Andrew Browe, and Carson Streich scored for Butte, with Braden Koliha scoring twice and Chris Porciuncula adding goals for Bozeman. Late in the 3rd period, the Irish pulled away with goals from Corbin Breen, Weston Villers, and another from Crooks. Braylon Rogers made 26 saves in the win.
St. Louis 1 @ West Bend 4 - Owen Drake found the back of the net twice as the West Bend Power continued their winning ways as they beat the St. Louis Jr. Blues 4-1. Cole Fenske and Zachary Wolverton were the other goal scorers for the Power. Miles Watson provided the offense for St. Louis in the loss. Gavin Wohlmacher needed just 16 saves to pick up the win in net. Jordan Behnen stopped 27 shots in the loss for the Jr. Blues.
Danbury 0 @ New Hampshire 2 - Manny Pantow was perfect as he stopped all 24 shots he faced as the New Hampshire Jr. Mountain Kings blanked the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks 2-0. Xander St. Pierre got the scoring started with his first goal of the season. Jory Veenstra put the game out of reach with an empty net goal in the dying seconds. St. Pierre and Veenstra finished the game with a goal and an assist while Tanner Anctil wound up with two helpers. Riley Gorman took the loss in net for Danbury allowing just one goal on 25 shots.
Norwich 4 @ Northeast 5 - The Northeast Generals were pushed to limit as they came from behind to knock off the Norwich Sea Captains 5-4 on Friday night. After Henry Wilson got the Generals on the board first, the Sea Captains scored three times in just over two minutes to take a 3-1 lead into the break. Aidan Raedy, Brian Essing and Jameson Bain were the goal scorers. The second period belonged to Northeast as Dominic Toews and Sean Gorman found the back of the net to tie the game at three. In the final period, Sava Makarenko gave Norwich the lead again with his sixth goal of the year. The rest of then night would belong to Nicholas Summers who scored to tie the game and would later win the game with his second goal of the night with just over three minutes remaining in regulation. Daniel Antal stopped 21 shots in the victory while Presley Patrin made 23 saves in the loss for Norwich.
Oregon 4 @ Peoria 1 - Reid Watson found the back of the net and dished off two assists as the Oregon Tradesmen defeated the Peoria Mustangs 4-1. Easton Simpson had a goal and an assist while Tyler Steuck and Erick Bachtle each lit the lamp for Oregon. Paul Allison notched the only goal of the night for the home squad. Samuel Pollard took home the win in the blue paint as he made 34 saves on the night. Kason Yamada was saddled with the loss despite making 37 stops.
Willmar 2 @ Wausau 7 - Despite giving up two goals in the opening minutes, the Wausau Cyclones would go on to score seven unanswered goals en route to a 7-2 victory over the Willmar WarHawks. Gabe Randel led the way with a goal and three assists. Ricky Nelson, Antonio Gomez, Connor Dvorak and Easton Plachetka all each had a goal and an assist in the win for Wausau. John Kriz and Mario Savino both tickled the twine as well in the victory. Tyler Misialek and Nik Johnson each finished with a goal and an assist for the WarHawks. Tanner Bonjernoor received the win in goal as he made 20 saves. Josh Mack was stuck with the loss as he made 28 stops.
Granite City 4 @ Mason City 5 (SO) - A buzzer beating goal from Sam Brennan forced overtime but Luke Robertson could not be stopped as his hat trick and goal in the shootout lifted Mason City to a 5-4 decision over Granite City. David Loahr also scored in regulation and the shootout as the Mason City escaped with the extra point. In addition to Brennan, Hayden Johnson, TJ Lewiston and Caleb Anderson all lit the lamp for Granite City. Devin Peck made 48 saves in 65 minutes and stopped both shooters in the shootout to earn the win in between the pipes. Sam Schowalter finished the night with 20 stops.
Alexandria 5 @ Minnesota 3 - Justin Wasvick found the back of the net twice as the Alexandria Blizzard knocked off the Minnesota Loons by a score of 5-3. Karsten Senden led all skaters with three points, all assists. Matt Scribner grabbed a goal and an assist for the Blizzard while Chris Fotopoulos and Markus Olson also found the back of the net for Alexandria. Josh Serino potted a pair of goals for Minnesota in the loss while Blake Biermaier also got on the scoresheet with a goal. Aidan Petrich needed just 10 saves to get the win for the Blizzard in goal, Chris Mazurek was sensational as he finished the night with 48 saves.
El Paso 2 @ TX Brahmas 1 – El Paso goalie Matt Loney made 43 saves to lead his team to a 2-1 road win on Friday against the Brahmas. After a scoreless 1st period, the Rhinos got on the board first in the 2nd period with a goal from Bryan Wood. In the 3rd period, a goal from Joseph Gutierrez made it 2-0. Joey Crowley scored the lone Brahmas goal late in the 3rd period. Brahmas goalie Noah Van Herik made 12 saves in the loss.
Louisiana 1 @ New Mexico 2 – The Ice Wolves stayed unbeaten in regulation and widened their lead atop the South Division thanks to a 2-1 home win over the Drillers. Louisiana scored first on a goal from Johnathon Berndt. New Mexico answered back with goals from Brady Nance and a late 3rd period goal from Carson Gotelaere. Pierson Haslet made 14 saves in the win, while William Carney made 36 saves in the loss.
Atlanta 11 @ Mid Cities 0 – Landon Thiessen and Isaac Fuller each had four points as the Capitals beat the Stars, 11-0. Fuller, along with Ethan Fredericks and Nick Refine scored goals in the 1st period to make it 3-0. The lead swelled to 5-0 in the 2nd period with goals from Marcus Bornowski and Aidan Besedic. In the 3rd period, the Capitals poured it on with six more goals as Thiessen score twice, Besedic and Refine added their second goals and Zane Hultquist and Anothony O’Neal also scored. Austin Durkop made 20 saves in the shutout win.
Austin 3 @ TX RoadRunners 10 – RoadRunners forward Noah Easterson had four goals and an assist to lead his club to a 10-3 win over the visiting Ice Bats. Austin had a 2-1 lead early with goals from Jace Kouba and Sebastian Hale with Kristoffer Svensson scoring for Texas, but the lead was short-lived as the RoadRunners scored the next 8 goals which included four from Easterson and others from Noble Cook, Shayden Davis, Porter Wolk, and JT Brugaletta. Arys Perardi had the other goal in the Ice Bats loss. Krzsztof Jakubowski made 15 saves in the win.
Sheridan 3 @ Gillette 8 – The Wild rolled to their 9th straight win thanks to three-point nights from Tay Kurpius, Jace Johnson, Elliot Testa, and Matt Siems in an 8-3 win. Jayden Rogen, Adam Severson, and Siems scored goals in the 1st period. Siems and Cade Voge added goals in the 2nd period and David Paulsen, Zach Lebens, and Severson added goals in the 3rd period. Daniil Viscu scored twice and Daniel Shelden added goals for Sheridan in the loss. Weston Gerke picked up the win in goal, making 29 saves.
Yellowstone 1 @ Badlands 2 – Sabres goalie Dawson Sellner stopped 20 of 21 shots as Badlands edged Yellowstone, 2-1. The Sabres jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals from Laurence Lundberg and Rhylan Olson. The Quake made it 2-1 in the 3rd period with their lone goal from Sebe Perez. Quake goalie John Simon played well in the loss, making 42 saves.
