Sunday Wrap Up: Drillers Keep Playoff Hopes Alive With Win
Long Beach 1 @ Northeast 5: Michael Locke scored once and had three assists as the Northeast Generals defeated the Long Beach Sharks by a score of 5-1. Nicholas Summers and Drew Vermette each recorded a goal and two helpers while Mason Frary and John Rodgers also found the back of the net. Daniel Antal made 24 saves to pick up the win in goal. Colton Kozma provided all the offense for Long Beach while Jackson Black stopped 56 of 61 shots.
Atlanta 4 @ Austin 3: Four different players found the back of the net as the Capitals edged the Ice Bats 4-3 on Sunday afternoon. Brad Camp scored first for Atlanta to open the scoring but Austin responded with goals by Kieran Gray and Arys Perardi. Rhylan Olson and Brett Phillips scored in the second period to give Atlanta the lead again. Perardi netted his second goal of the afternoon to tie the game but then it was Marshall Wilkerson’s first goal of the season that gave the Capitals the lead and eventually the win as Atlanta finished off the weekend sweep. Hayden Laforet earned the win in goal making 18 saves. Bryson Frazer took the loss in net as he made 42 saves.
Louisiana 2 @ Texas B 1 (OT): Jake Bergstrom’s 20th goal of the season was the overtime winner as the Louisiana Drillers knocked off the Texas Brahmas 2-1 on Sunday. Aidan Fluharty scored in the opening period to give the Drillers a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes. In the middle frame, Beau Kralovec found the back of the net to even the game at one. After a scoreless third period, it was Bergstrom that was the hero to keep Louisiana in the playoff race. Sebastian Thome was the winner in between the pipes as he made 19 saves. Luke Romney took the tough loss in goal as he made 43 saves.
Norwich 9 @ Danbury 0: Chase Leivian and Glen Farmer each had two goals and an assist as the Sea Captains dominated the Jr. Hat Tricks by a score of 9-0. Skylar Bawcom and Sava Makarenko each potted a goal and an assist of their own. Tim Hayden, Tyler Herrick and Aidan Raedy each lit the lamp as well for Norwich. Riley Gorman picked up the shutout in net as he stopped all 17 shots fired his way. Markus Paltauf and Chris Panza combined to make 43 saves in the loss for Danbury.
