Thrilling Action Highlights Day One of the Fraser Cup Playoffs
New Hampshire 1 @ Northeast 6 (Northeast leads series 1-0): The Northeast Generals defeated the New Hampshire Jr. Mountain Kings by a score of 6-1. The Generals got on the board with Levente Pakozdi in the first for a 1-0 lead. Soon after the game was tied 1-1 with a goal from Aiden Palmeter from New Hampshire. The Generals answered back with back-to-back goals with John Rogers and Sean Gorman for a 3-1 lead. In the third period it was all Generals with Sean Gorman, Gabe Vijuk and Mason Frary scoring for a 6-1 final. Northeast goalie Daniel Antal stopped 46 shots in the win.
New Jersey 2 @ Norwich 3 (Norwich leads series 1-0): The Norwich Sea Captains edged the New Jersey Titans with a late third period goal, 3-2. The action picked up in the second period with Tyler Herrick and Quiten Olshan getting Norwich ahead 2-0. Laer in the period, Nicholas Trabb scored for a 2-1 score to end the period. In the third, Jaco Gray scored for New Jersey and Brian Essing for the Sea Captains to win, 3-2. Goalie Riley Gorman stopped 27 ethos in the win.
Texas B 2 @ New Mexico 3 (New Mexico leads series 1-0): Jake Wenner found the back of the net on a rebound chance with just 54 seconds left to play as the New Mexico Ice Wolves edged the Texas Brahmas 3-2 in Game 1 of the South Division semifinals. Ian Mohr got the Ice Wolves out in front early but Cameron Deitsch and Kaden Spaniel scored just 62 seconds apart to give Texas the lead. Stanley Hubbard tied the contest in the second period and then the teams would be scoreless until the final minute when Wenner delivered in the final minute. Owen Zenone made 14 saves as he picked up the win in goal. Luke Romney stopped 19 shots in the loss for Texas.
Louisiana 5 @ El Paso 2 (Louisiana leads series 1-0): Five different players found the back of the net as the Louisiana Drillers took down the El Paso Rhinos by a score of 5-2. Alex Boyd and Colton Sebastian scored in the opening frame. After Joseph May found the back of the net with a goal of his own, the Drillers took over the second period with goals from Pierceton Vangurp, Dominic Loews and Roman Vitolo as they all lit the lamp for Louisiana. Zach Ware got El Paso on the board again but that’s as close as they would get as Sebastian Thome finished the night with 29 stops. Ryan Piekarski and Matt Loney combined to stop 27 shots.
Gillette 15 @ Bozeman 2: (Gillette leads series 1-0): The Gillette Wild are one win away from the Frontier Division Finals as they dropped the Bozeman Icedogs by a score of 15-2. Isaac Young led the way with six points, four goals and two assists. Adam Severson had a hat trick with three helpers of his own in the win. Tay Kurplus notched two goals and three assists while Wylee Gladen had a goal and two assists. Chase Hapka got on the scoresheet twice while Matt Simms and Davis Paulsen also lit the lamp. Casey Sturm and Magnus Lowham netted goals for the Icedogs. Cole Wheaton earned the win in the blue paint as he made 26 saves. Isaac Weatherford and Matthew Ryynanen teamed up to stop 55 shots.
