Rhinos goaltender O'Neill makes NCAA Commitment
The El Paso Rhinos of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce that goaltender Philip O'Neill has committed to play NCAA DIII hockey for Plymouth State University in the MASCAC.
O'Neill, 20, is a two-year NA3HL player, suiting up for 34 games with the El Paso Rhinos, posting an overall record of 15-12-3, maintaining a goals against average of 2.82 and a save percentage of .914. Of his 9 wins during the 2023-2024 season, the Belcamp, MD native recorded 3 shutouts and also dressed in 3 consecutive wins for the Rhinos on two separate occasions.
"Philip is a great young man, we were lucky to have him in the locker room this season. He was a leader for us- not only by example on and off the ice with his character and work ethic, but also helping our younger players navigate and adapt to the Junior level the right way. He had the ability to stay cool and calm in big moments, and was mentally tough when we needed it most,” stated Rhinos Head Coach Alec Sherman. “Philip had an amazing start to the season, receiving November Goalie of the Month from the NA3HL. Plymouth State is getting a goaltender who will show up every day ready to work and earn any opportunity thrown his way, he is a competitor.”
O'Neill is the 4th player to commit for the Rhinos this season.
