The Mason City Toros of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce that forward Jax Schauer has committed to play NCAA DIII hockey for Lake Forest College in the NCHA.
Schauer, 21, played his final season of junior hockey in the NA3HL with the Mason City Toros, appearing in 43 games, 3 of which were Fraser Cup Playoff games. As the 2023-24 leading scorer for the Toros, the Hastings, MN native recorded 49 points (27 goals, 22 assists), including three four-point games, tallying 2 goals and 2 assists in each contest.
With his offensive success, Schauer was selected to represent the Toros at the Top Prospects Tournament, netting one goal and assisting on another.
“Jax really stepped up for us this year. He led us on the ice with his play and production and was a great leader in the room as well. He has the type of game that will translate well to the next level and I am confident he will continue to succeed and flourish throughout his college career,” stated Toros Head Coach Mark Hicks.
Schauer also played numerous games at the NAHL level for both the Chippewa Steel and North Iowa Bulls.
Schwartzhoff is the 5th player to commit from the Toros this season.
