NA3HL Announces Stars of the Week

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) is pleased to announce the Divisional Stars of the Week for the week ending in October 20th. The Divisional Stars of the Week is an award given each week of the regular season to the top performing players in each of the five divisions of the NA3HL as nominated by their head coaches. 

Central Division Star of the Week: Nolan Mix , Forward, Wisconsin Woodsmen

Nolan Mix and the Wisconsin Woodsmen swept their series with the Peoria Mustangs and currently sit third overall in the Central Division. ‘05 forward Nolan Mix played a huge role for Wisconsin this weekend as he posted an impressive 6 points (4 goals, 2 assists). The Manteca, CA native had his best game of the season on Friday night where he registered 4 out of his 6 points. Of his four goals, two goals came on special teams, and he posted a plus-minus of +3. 

“Nolan played a large for our part team last season as a rookie and he has really put in the work this summer to show that he is a top six player in this league,” stated Woodsmen Head Coach Jon Vaillancourt. “We knew that he had the ability to score goals last season and he has really worked to become a two hundred foot player. He is a key piece to our team and I am thrilled to see him having early success.”

2nd Star: Jake Garrow, Wausau Cyclones

3rd Star: Noah Joyce, Rochester Grizzlies

East Division Star of the Week: Ethan Miller, Forward, Binghamton Buzz

As the first place team in the East Division, Ethan Miller and the Binghamton Buzz extended their win streak to 6 with a pair of wins over the Maine Nordiques. The Middletown, PA native recorded his 3rd five point game of the season and claims the title of top scorer for the Buzz. During their 9-3 victory, Miller scored two goals, one on the powerplay and notched three assists, including the apple on the game winner.

“Ethan had a fantastic weekend vs Maine. He used his speed, skill, and deception to control the play in the Nordiques' end all weekend,” stated Buzz Head Coach Gaetano Moirano. “Ethan’s puck protection ability and ability to see the ice is next level. We look forward to his contributions as he continues to be a difference maker for our team night in and night out.” 

2nd Sar: Logan Niesen, Norwich Sea Captains

3rd Star: Wyatt Strahan, Long Beach Sharks

Frontier Division Star of the Week: Josh Serino, Forward, Sheridan Hawks

Josh Serino and the Sheridan Hawks split their series with the Butte Irish and are currently tied for second place in the Division with the Great Falls Americans. As the leading scorer for the Hawks, Serino has continued his offensive production for his squad with 24 points in 14 games. The Barrow, AK native tallied five points over the weekend, including his second four point game of the year on Saturday evening. Of his three goals, Serino shined on special teams with one coming on the powerplay while the other was scored shorthanded. 

“Josh has started off great for us, consistently being a guy we can rely on in all situations, 5 on 5, short handed, power play, he’s doing a great job playing consistently and doing the little things right and he’s being rewarded for it,” stated Hawks Head Coach JJ Santagata. 

2nd Star: Finn Theriault, Helena Bighorns

3rd Star: Zac Orwig, Great Falls Americans

South Division Star of the Week: Nikolai Meshkantsov, Forward, Texas Brahmas

Nikolai Meshkantsov and the Texas Brahmas remain undefeated with a pair of wins over the Tulsa Jr. Oilers. As a first year player for the Brahmas, the ‘06 forward has been an absolute powerhouse on offense, recording 30 points in 10 games, 11 of which (4 goals, 7 assists) were recorded this weekend. The Kulaga City, Russia native had his best game to date on Saturday where he posted a hat trick in addition to notching a whopping five assists for an eight point contest. In addition to inking his name all across the scoresheet, Meshkantsov maintained a plus-minus of +10, bringing his plus-minus on the year to +24. 

"Nikolai has been great for us up to this point. He is young and hungry to not only get better but advance in his hockey career," stated Brahmas Head Coach Chad Bailey. "The guys in the locker room love having him around and we hope that his personal success continues as well as our team’s success."

2nd Star: Chase Forry, Texas Brahmas

3rd Star: Jake Wenner, New Mexico Ice Wolves

West Division Star of the Week: Pierson Haislet, Goaltender, Minnesota Wilderness

Pierson Haislet and the Minnesota Wilderness picked up two points in the standings this weekend winning their one game against the Alexandria Blizzard. The ‘05 netminder had an incredible performance between the pipes, his best game to date with a save percentage of .971 and a goals against average of 1. After turning away 33 of 34 shots during the squad’s 2-1 victory, Haislet’s overall record improves to 4-3-0-0. 

“Pierson had been solid from the start of the season, and his consistency is impressive,” stated Wilderness Head Coach Ben Johnson. “Haislet has kept us in every game, and has shut the door when the game is on the line. It has been great to see his tremendous work ethic and discipline routine pay off.” 

2nd Star: Scott Woltman, Willmar WarHawks

3rd Star: TJ Lepisto, Granite City Lumberjacks
