Friday Finals: Hawks Extend Win Streak

Maine 2 @ Northeast 0 - The Maine Nordiques picked up a win on the road Friday evening against the Northeast Generals. Maine’s Ryan Mileki opened the scoring in the first period with a power play goal at 17:12. No scoring took place in the second period, but early on in the third, Luke Pomerleau netted a power play goal of his own to secure the Nordiques’ 2-0 win. The Generals’ goaltender Nathan McFall made 17 saves out of 19 shots in the loss, while the Nordiques’ netminder Gabe Pomerleau saved all 35 shots he faced, earning himself his first NA3HL shutout.
Atlanta 2 @ Louisiana 6 - The Louisiana Drillers defeated the Atlanta Capitals at home 6-2. The Drillers kicked off the scoring late in the first period with a power play goal from Johnathon Berndt. Just a few minutes later, the Drillers’ Brody Neish found the back of the net making the score 2-0 heading into the second period. In the second period, Brendan Johnson netted a goal for Louisiana just 34 seconds into the period. Cole Stranathan and Derek Johnson followed suit, each netting goals of their own. Cameron McEwan started off the scoring in the third period with the 6th goal of the night for the Drillers. The Capitals attempted to make a comeback later in the period with Landon Thiessen and Nick Macri each finding the back of the net. In the end, the Drillers came out on top with a solid 6-2 win over the Capitals.
El Paso 4 @ Tulsa 2 - The El Paso Rhinos claimed a victory over the Tulsa Jr. Oilers 4-2 on Friday night. The Rhinos opened the scoring just 14 seconds into the period with a goal from Kacper Gach. The Jr. Oilers answered back quickly with Cooper Smolin netting a power play goal just a few minutes later. The Rhinos regained momentum with Brooks Fegers breaking the tie, and Francesco Sabato added another before the period ended, sending El Paso into the second period with a 3-1 lead. In an attempt to make a comeback, Malachi Clark found the back of the net for Tulsa in the second period. In the third period, Derrick Pedersen secured the Rhinos 4-2 win with an empty net goal. Jack Salverson saved 42 out of 46 shots for Tulsa in the loss, while EL Paso’s Dylan Newton made 21 saves out of the 23 shots he faced.
Peoria 7 @ Rochester 4 - The Peoria Mustangs claimed a high-scoring victory on the road over the Rochester Grizzlies on Friday night. Rochester’s Gavin Black opened the scoring early in the first period. Later on in the period, Rochester’s Sam Johnson netted a short handed goal. Peoria answered back in the second period, with Ian Ingles finding the back of the net to cut the deficit to 2-1. The Mustangs took control in the third period, scoring six goals. Filip Kaczmarczyk tied the game, and Dominick Luparell gave Peoria the lead shortly after. Charlie Maquet extended the Mustangs’ advantage with another goal. Rochester’s Mason Decker responded with a goal to bring the Grizzlies within one. Breyon Maroney restored Peoria’s two-goal advantage with a short-handed goal, and Nickolas Martin and Jordan Mini sealed the win with back-to-back empty-net goals late in the game. Peoria’s goaltender, Charlie Maquet, made 48 saves on 52 shots, while Rochester’s goalies saved a combined 16 of 21 shots in the loss.
Granite City 2 @ Minnesota M 3 (SO) - The Minnesota Moose faced off in a tightly contested game against the Granite City Lumberjacks Friday night. No scoring took place in the first and second periods. Minnesota’s Jack Markse kicked off the game scoring at 5:47 in the third period. Granite City retaliated back with Finn Greeley and Parker Comstock both netting goals. With 3 seconds left in the game, Sam Knight found the back of the net for Minnesota, sending the game into overtime. Overtime was scoreless forcing the game into a shoot out where Luke Steffen scored securing the win for Minnesota.
Wausau 0 @ West Bend 3 - The West Bend Power arose victorious in their matchup against the Wausau Cyclones. Tommy Kundinger started off the night’s scoring with a power play goal at 10:24 in the first period. The Power went on to score two more goals in the game with Lucca Weinkauf netting a goal in the second period and Brayden Graning finding the back of the net in the third. The Cyclones’ goaltender Tanner Bonjernoor saved 32 out of 35 shots in the loss, while the Power’s Adam Prokop saved all 29 shots he faced earning himself a shutout.
Badlands 3 @ Yellowstone 2 (OT) - Max Goulden had help from Cooper Cunningham and Logan Nichols to score a goal late in the first for the Quake. The Sabres answered shortly after with a goal from Charlie Lorbiecki assisted by Ryan Jordan and Zach Vockler. In the second, Vockler got assists from Patrick Gosselin and Jordan. During the third, Logan Nichols tied the game with a goal assisted by Wesley Amos. In overtime, Gosselin scored with assists from Ethan Seanor and Vockler. Oger Hunter made 25 saves for the Badlands Sabres, while Hayden Laforet made 58 saves for the Yellowstone Quake.
Bozeman 2 @ Great Falls 5 - During the first, John Lang got help from Ty O’Bey and Ty Brander for the Americans. TJ Kelsey tied it up for the Icedogs assisted by Preston Wright and Spencer Wilkinson. In the second, Aiden Kennedy assisted by Blayne Jusczak and Zac Orwig added to the Great Falls’ lead. Lang snuck another goal in with help from Garren Narvaez and Matt Beazley. In the third, Sam Trufant got an unassisted goal for the Icedogs. Orwig got a goal with help from Jurzy Allard and Narvaez. O’Bey clutched the win assisted by Lang and Fisher Hannesson. Brett DeVincent made 10 saves for the Icedogs, while Kaden Rhyder made 23 saves for the Americans.
Butte 1 @ Helena 7 - In the first, Jason Hammett with help from Hunter Coulombe and Chase Berg got the game started for the Bighorns. Austin Uecker and Jeffrey Hershberger added another. In the second, Finn Theriault assisted by Hammett and Kelton Chadwicg. Berg increased the lead with help from Kade Pereja. Uecker with help from Hershberger and Cam Young added another goal. During the third, Brandon Mcilhany with help from Marcus Ray and Dylan Jimenez put another goal in net. Tristan Ward assisted by Easton Langemo and Weston Villers. Maddux Hale with help from Coulombe and Theriault put another goal on board for the Bighorns. Malik Johnson made 26 saves for the Helena Bighorns. Manny Pantow made 33 saves for the Irish and Tim Nanson made 14 saves as well for the Irish.
Gillette 3 @ Sheridan 8 - During the first, Sheridan’s Josh Serino got the goal with assists from Zach Longnecker and Vincent Leaf. Kiefer Dunham got the Hawks another goal assisted by Daniel Shelden and Elijah Farris. In the second, Tai Kontrec assisted by Max Arit put the Wild on the board. Brady Johnson with assists from Riley Schmidt and Rocco Corl added another goal for Gillette. Derek Laite assisted by Logan Hume added another goal for Sheridan. Longnecker got assisted by Leaf and Serino. In the third, Hume with help from Kadin Edwards and Gavin Elliott got the goal. Serino assisted by Leaf and Longnecker added another goal for the Hawks. Johnson got a goal with assists from Schmidt and Braydin Lund. Tyler Kemp put another goal on the board for Sheridan with help from Vlad Zubriichuk and Ernest Allen. Serino added another assisted by Leaf and Hume. Wylan Cambensy made 41 saves for the Gillette Wild and John Simon made 44 saves for the Sheridan Hawks.
Texas R 1 @ Austin 5 - In the first, Ashton Morin snuck a goal in early in the first with help from Easton Salter and Guhnar Hillman for the Ice Bats. William Heskett assisted by Joseph Izzo and William Sweeney tied up the game for the Roadrunners. Hillman assisted by Arys Perardi and Thomas Forgrave took the lead for Austin. In the second, Kaiden Gordon got help from Garrett Morris and Georgii Tokarskll to add to the lead. Taras Korotchenko added another goal assisted by Paul Weise and Morris. Tokarskll scored an unassisted goal for the Ice Bats. Jimmy Packer made 42 saves for the Texas Roadrunners. Gavin Morris made 30 saves for the Austin Ice Bats.
