NA3HL Announces Monthly Player Awards for November

December 3, 2024

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) is pleased to announce the monthly player awards for the month of November. Ashton Collings from the Alexandria Blizzard has been selected as Forward of the Month. Johnathon Berndt from the Louisiana Drillers has been selected as Defenseman of the Month and Gavin Morris of the Austin Ice Bats has been selected as Goaltender of the Month.

NA3HL Forward of the Month: Ashton Collings, Alexandria Blizzard

Three-year Blizzard forward Ashton Collings has been absolutely lights on offense, picking up at least one point or more during all ten of Alexandria’s games during the month of November. Throughout the course of the month, the Williston, ND native racked up a total of 18 points (5 goals, 13 assists). This total includes two, three-point games coming on the 16th against Mason City where he scored one goal and tallied two assists and the 30th against the Moose where he dished out three helpers. In addition to being the star of the scoresheet, Collings maintained a plus-minus of +11. With these numbers, he is the second leading scorer for the Blizzard and has posted 28 points in 22 games, on pace to surpass his previous season point total of 34.

“Ashton has been very solid on both ends of the ice. He matches up against other teams top lines and also produces offensively at a very consistent pace,” stated Alexandria Head Coach Jeff Crouse. “He’s been a huge part of our recent success and we look forward to seeing his progress continue the rest of the season!”

Runner up: Josh Serino, Sheridan Hawks

NA3HL Defenseman of the Month: Johnathon Berndt, Louisiana Drillers

Johnathon Berndt not only leads the Drillers in points among defensemen, but also ranks as the second-highest scoring defenseman overall in the NA3HL. This is in part due to his valiant efforts during the month as he was able to find his way onto the scoresheet at least once or more in 11 out of 13 games for Louisiana, tallying a whopping 19 points. Of these 19 points, the Wheaton, IL native scored 5 goals, two on the man advantage, and dished out 14 assists, including a three-point contest on the 2nd against the Rhinos. As a huge contributor offensively, Berndt is only eight points away from surpassing his previous season point total of 38 with a total of 30 points thus far through the 2024-25 campaign. It is also worth noting that Berndt posted an impressive plus-minus of +19, bringing his season total to +25.

“Johnny has been a model of consistency for our team that shows at both ends of the ice. Offensively he shows every game that he is a threat to drive our scoring while defensively he is hard to play against and responsible,” stated Louisiana Head Coach Chris Francis. “Johnny is an amazing teammate and an unbelievable human being. The Drillers are lucky to have him and we know great things are ahead for him.”

Runner up: Ashton Morin, Austin Ice Bats

NA3HL Goaltender of the Month: Gavin Morris, Austin Ice Bats

Gavin Morris and the Austin Ice Bats continue to keep their momentum going in the right direction as the ‘06 netminder stood tall between the pipes posting a 4-1-1 record through this past month. This includes a 44 save shutout against the New Mexico Ice Wolves, his second shutout of the season. Another huge win for Morris and Ice Bats fell on the 29th as they defeated the Texas Brahmas by a score of 2-1. During this victory, the Cedar Park, TX native was tested 40 times, only allowing one goal. In total, Morris was faced with 252 shots, making 241 saves for a monthly save percentage of .96 and a goals against average of 1.83.

“Gavin Morris is a dedicated goalie with elite skating ability who competes hard on and off the ice every day. His passion and commitment drive him to be the best player he can be, and he is ready for the NAHL,” stated Austin Head Coach Westin Michaud.

Runner up: Cole Schmidt, Louisiana Drillers
