NA3HL Showcase comes to a close
The NA3HL Showcase came to a close on Monday. The Peoria Mustangs, who went 3-0 at the event, had the day off. However, the North Iowa Bulls and Twin City Steel both won their respective games to both finish the event at 4-0.

Here is a look at Monday's summaries:
Dallas Jr. Stars 1 @ St. Louis Jr. Blues 4: Alex Carlsson scored a hat trick as the Jr. Blues finished off their weekend defeating the Dallas Jr. Stars. Carlsson tallied a goal in each period including two on the man advantage to record his first hat trick of the season. St. Louis forward Mike Lozano also had a trio of points but his all came on assists. The Dallas Jr. Stars goal came on the power play from Colin South assisted by Robert Gervino. Boxscore
Pittsburgh Vengeance 5 @ Sugar Land Imperials 4 (OT): Lukas Friberger assisted on the game tying goal and then scored the game winning goal in overtime as the Pittsburgh Vengeance defeated the Sugar Land Imperials in comeback fashion. The Vengeance jumped out to a two-goal lead after the first period but a strong period from Sugar Land forward Yves Bader, who scored three points and helped the Imperials gain a one-goal advantage into the final frame. It was Thomas Leistner who put home a Friberger pass to send the game to overtime and then Friberger himself finishing the game in the extra period. Boxscore
Granite City Lumberjacks 11 @ Topeka Capitals 3: David Horsmann scored a hat trick and added an assist during the Granite City Lumberjacks 11-3 victory over the Topeka Capitals. After going down by two, the Capitals started the 2nd period with a goal from Yu Hikosaka to cut the lead down to one but seven unanswered Granite City goals blew the game wide open and the Lumberjacks never looked back. In addition to Horsmann getting four points, teammate Drew Otto added to his season total with a goal and three assists during the game. Boxscore
North Iowa Bulls 6 @ Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks 2: There seems to be no stopping Timothy Santopoalo and the North Iowa Bulls as he Santopoalo scored two goals and added an assist to his league leading point total in the Bulls 6-2 victory. The Jr. Lumberjacks jumped out to an early lead as Zack Mlady scored on the power play less than five minutes into the contest. Later that period it was none other than Santopoalo who answered right back on the Bulls man advantage to tie the game at one. It was then North Iowa who scored three straight 2nd period goals to pull away from Cleveland for the win. Chris Amsden made 19 saves in net for the North Iowa victory. Boxscore
Minnesota Flying Aces 5 @ Metro Jets 6 (OT): The Metro Jets scored three 3rd period goals including a last minute goal to tie the game up and then won it in overtime in a 6-5 thriller over the Minnesota Flying Aces. Brad Hepler scored his 9th goal of the season when he put the puck past Minnesota goaltender Jaxson Gosnell to tie the game up with only 33 seconds remaining. In overtime it was Brad Holm who found the back of the net to complete the Metro Jets comeback. Flying Aces goaltender Gosnell was tremendous in net in the loss stopping 45 of 51 shots that came his way. Boxscore
Alexandria Blizzard 7 @ Cincinnati Swords 2: Joe Anderson had a hat trick and two assists in an impressive 7-2 victory over the Cincinnati Swords. Alexandria jumped out to a big 1st period lead scoring four goals including two from Anderson to open the game. Alexandria goaltender Tanner Elmore stopped 26 shots to pick up his 5th win of the season and improve his record to 5-0. The Swords offense came courtesy of Thomas Clayton and Ian Rolfsen, who scored his first goal of the season during the game. Boxscore
Twin City Steel 7 @ Wisconsin Whalers 2: Jace Childs scored a hat trick and added an assist to put his point total at 45 and at a share of the NA3HL Scoring lead in the Twin City Steel win over the Wisconsin Whalers. The Steel got off to a solid start to the game as Ben Ihire scored twice and Childs tallied in the 1st period to give the Steel a two-goal lead after the first. The offense didn’t stop for Twin City as they scored twice in each forthcoming period. Wisconsin received goals from Jason Hoehn and Zack Johnson, who scored his while shorthanded. Boxscore
Michigan Mountain Cats 1 @ Breezy Point North Stars 5: Breezy Point captain Crosby Steen scored a goal and added two assists as the Breezy Point North Stars won the final game of the NA3HL Showcase 5-1 over the Michigan Mountain Cats. The North Stars jumped out to a two goal lead after the first period getting goals from three different players just interrupted with a Kade Morrison power play goal for Michigan after the 2nd Breezy Point tally. The 2nd period is the last period that goals would be scored as Blake Neumann scored his second goal of the game and Steen found the back of the net on a nice net side drive dropping the puck over the goal line with a nice move.
